5 Plants You Can Easily Grow at Home

Easy to Grow Plants at Home

In the modern world, everything can reach consumers very quickly, but certain unhealthy methods are used to achieve this speed. Especially the pesticides used in fruits and vegetables threaten our future. Overly red apples, giant strawberries, and flawless tomatoes have the same effect as taking a hormone pill. For this reason, a return to naturalness is now happening worldwide. There are many ways to eat naturally, and one of these methods is growing at home. Of course, it is not entirely possible to grow everything in our apartments, but there are some fruits and vegetables that can be easily grown on our balconies. Here are some of these plants…

1. Tomato

Most of us have a story of trying to grow tomatoes in a pot when we were little, but for those who haven't, let me explain quickly; first of all, you can choose to buy seeds to grow tomatoes, or you can directly use the seeds of a tomato. After cleaning the seeds of your tomato, start by putting stones at the very bottom of a pot, then a sufficient amount of soil. Then bury the seeds you prepared 1-1.5 cm below the soil and give them their first watering. If you keep them in a sunny place, watering them as the soil dries, your tomato seeds, which will sprout in about a week to ten days, will start to bear fruit in 2 months.

2. Lettuce

You might be surprised to see lettuce, but believe it or not, this plant, which can even grow in water, is very easy to grow at home. First, cut a lettuce from its base, about 3-4 fingers long, taking the root part. Take this cut root part and place it in a glass of water so that only about 2 fingers of the part are in the water. Your lettuce's roots will grow over time. Once the roots are well-grown, take your lettuce from the glass, plant it in the soil, and give it its first watering. Take care of it by watering it when it dries out in a sunny place. With regular care, new leaves will emerge from your lettuce over time.

3. Carrot

Growing carrots, a root vegetable, is quite easy. The great thing is that you can grow many other root vegetables (like potatoes and radishes) at home using this technique. First, take a carrot and cut off the top part (the thick part) about 2 fingers long. Take this cut part and place it in a shallow bowl with about 1 finger of water at the bottom. Expose this bowl to sunlight intermittently and add water as it decreases. This way, your carrots will start to root and sprout small shoots from their tops. Once your carrots have rooted well, take them and plant them in a deep pot so that only the sprouts are visible from above, and give them their first watering. The point to pay attention to here is that after planting your carrots, there should be at least 1.5 hand spans of soil below the carrot; otherwise, your carrots, which need to grow downwards, will not be able to grow sufficiently due to lack of space.

4. Garlic

You must have seen the onions you bought turn green and sprout as they sat. The same applies to garlic. If you keep your garlic in a sunny place, they will start to sprout just like onions. If you plant these sprouted garlic cloves in the soil, you will get new garlic. If you pay attention to the initial watering and subsequent watering, your garlic will grow in a short time.

5. Strawberry

Another plant you can easily grow is strawberries. The process of growing strawberries is exactly the same as growing tomatoes. First, you need to collect the seeds from the strawberry with tweezers. Then, you should plant these collected seeds in a pot at a depth of no more than 1 cm. After planting, give it its first watering, water it as the soil dries, and place it in a sunny spot. In about 2 months, you can have natural, hormone-free strawberries.
