THE OTHER FACE OF KONYA: ŞİLLE
Located 8 km west of Konya, Şile is a Rum Town belonging to the Selçuklu district of Konya. Believed to have been founded 6000 years ago, Şile became an important religious center due to its geographical location. The Ak Monastery, one of the largest monasteries in the world, is also located in this village.
Many churches and Ottoman tombstones in the village have survived to the present day. The first church you should visit is the Aya Elena church, built by the mother of Byzantine Emperor Constantine.
MYSTERIOUS BEAUTY IN KONYA
Due to its volcanic structure, Şile also possesses valuable stones.
When you arrive in Şile, you can visit Sille Konak, known as the Priest's House, but which has been converted into a restaurant.
The town, which still preserves its ancient city structure, is worth extending your Konya holiday by another day for your Mevlana holiday in every aspect.
