A Fairy Tale Holiday City, Bangkok
Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, is also the country's largest city. Founded by King Rama I, Bangkok has a population of around 9 million. Its local name is Krung Thep, meaning City of Angels. Despite being full of skyscrapers, it is possible to encounter a temple on almost every street or corner in Bangkok.
In Bangkok, where you can easily get around with taxis called tuk-tuks, some of the first places you will encounter are the Grand Palace and the Temple of Buddha. The Yaksha statues in the Grand Palace, which you visit by purchasing a ticket, are worth seeing. The statues, which are half-human and half-bird, are called Kinnara. You should definitely see the Diamond Buddha Statue in the palace, built in Thai architecture.
After visiting these two magnificent places, your next stop should be to see the Reclining Buddha Statue. Wat Pho is also Bangkok's oldest and largest temple. The Reclining Buddha Statue is 46 meters long and 15 meters high.
Wat Arun, or the Temple of Dawn, is quite striking with its 82-meter tower. You should definitely visit the Phutthaisawan Chapel by going to the Bangkok National Museum, and you must see the Phutta Sihing Buddha Statue.
One of the things you should do before leaving Bangkok is to experience a Thai massage, which has become increasingly popular in recent years. You can relieve all the fatigue of your holiday by getting a massage in many places in the city.
