MOSAIC CITY: ZEUGMA

Zeugma Ancient City, located on the edge of Birecik Dam Lake in the Nizip district of Gaziantep, hosts thousands of tourists every year. This city was founded by Alexander the Great in the BC era. It came under the rule of the Roman Kingdom from 31 BC onwards. Excavation works are still ongoing in this ancient city. The artifacts unearthed from the excavations are housed in the Zeugma Mosaic Museum, the world's largest mosaic museum.

ZEUGMA'S THREAT OF EXTINCTION

Unfortunately, it is possible that a part of it will be submerged due to the dam construction project implemented. For this reason, drying efforts have been initiated for Zeugma by everyone, both local and foreign. After the research conducted, this beautiful and special ancient city has been revealed to be a complete mosaic city. You should visit this unique ancient city and mosaic museum without delay.
