What Types of Fabrics Can Be Dyed
How Fabric is Made
Fabric is defined as any material or object obtained by bringing together textile fibers in a structure that forms a thin layer with a uniform surface and constant thickness. It is obtained from main materials such as cotton, wool, silk, linen, and similar ones. Fabric is produced by two methods: weaving or knitting. Fabrics are also preferred for home decoration. Fabric is formed by passing threads, which are parallel and perpendicular to each other, under and over each other. The general principle in weaving is the interlacing of warp and weft yarns.
Types of Fabrics
There is a fabric called marquisette, which resembles muslin but is woven more tightly, is bleached, and has a soft feel. This fabric is generally preferred for making muslin and scarves. Research has determined that the smooth texture of this fabric minimizes sweating on the human body. The main reason this fabric is more expensive than other types of fabrics is its resistance to sweating and the ease of use it provides. When fabrics are generally examined, it has been determined that all fabrics can be dyed with acrylic paint. However, when researched in the market, acrylic paint is observed to be more expensive than other types of synthetic dyes. Acrylic paint is mostly preferred in special production facilities. The primary reason for this is said to be the ability to maintain a high profit margin. Especially with dark-colored fabrics, it is observed that their colors fade over time due to various external factors (washing, sun, and the like). We feel the need to throw away these clothes, thinking they are old simply because they have lost their color. However, with powdered fabric dyes that can be obtained, clothes can be easily dyed, and we can make them look like new. If a few tips are known, clothes can have a more permanent color than their old state with fabric dyeing tools. The fabric to be dyed should preferably be cotton, wool, or nylon. The reason for this is to ensure the dye penetrates the base pores. Dark colors should be preferred first in dyeing processes. It should never be forgotten that the permanence of the colors will be higher if we prefer dark colors. While colors are initially pleasing to the eye, they may still fade slightly over time, as they did before.
