A NATURAL MUSEUM FORMED BY HOUSES: SAFRANBOLU
Always the same white house before my eyes.
Set up on every mountainside,
At the appearance of every waterside,
Thus begins the poem "White House" by Ziya Osman Saba. Our homes are undoubtedly the most important part of our lives. They are the place we value most and feel most comfortable in.
THE ADDRESS OF NATURAL BEAUTIES IN KARABÜK
The houses in the Safronbolu district of Karabük carry the Ottoman architectural texture of the 18th and 19th centuries to the present day. There are approximately 2000 houses in the district. Most of these houses are under protection. The houses have been taken under protection by UNESCO.
None of these houses block each other's sun, and the windows do not look into the windows of other neighbors. The houses are two or three stories high. The storage areas on the entrance floors are always cool. Because their foundations are very strong, they are earthquake-resistant. The houses have harem and selamlik sections. Especially their ceilings are a beautiful product of wood carving, and they are perfectly sound.
If you are tired of the increasingly urbanizing cities and want to experience the Ottoman era, you must visit the houses of Safronbolu.
