Kabatas High School

   The turkish National Education System consist of two main parts:
Formal Education and Informal Education. The Formal Educational system is composed of kindergartens, early childhood classes, primary schools, secondary school, high school and its counterparts, and higher education institutions.
   Informal Education includes instruction for those who did not attend and school or dropped out of school in addition to instruction to help those continuing their education.

   The general aim of the Turkish National Education System is to bring all the individuals of the nation together around national consciousness and ideals; to train them in a scientific way of thinking and a broadened viewpoint on world affairs; to provide them with the abilities which will make them happy and will add to the happiness of the society; and to make the Turkish nation a productive, creative and outstanding member of modern civilization.

   a. Kindergartens, Early Childhood Classes and Primary Schools:
Primary education is a compulsory phase lasting five years in which all Turkish children 7-12 years of age are trained mentally, physically, and morally in accordance with the national aims and are taught reading and writing skills together with basic know ledge.   

   b. Secondary School:
Primary education and the following three year secondary education period are combined as to form a basic education period of eight years. The education in secondary school or in its counterparts is not compulsorry.
   c. Lycees and Counterparts:
The aim of secondary education is to provide students with a higher level of knowledge, prepare them for advanced education, and for the responsibilities of a job and life. Each student graduating from a secondary school has the right to attend a professional, technical or common lycee offering secondary education and to benefit from this education as far as his or her own abilities and intereste allow.

 

Higher Education Council

   The Higher Education Council established by Law No:2547 of November 6.1981 is an autonomous body organising all educational institutions of higher learning and guiding their activites. Units attached to the Council of Higher Education include the Education Supervisory Board of Higher Learning and establishments pertaining to the planning, research, development, evaluation, budget, investments and coordination of the centre for selection and placement of students for universities.
