GÜLLÜK Marina

   The deeply indented gulf of Güllük has a large number of well sheltered anchorages. Güllük Marina lies about half way along the eastern side of the gulf. A number of small hotels and restaurants are being built along the coast and local boats run trips across to the ancient harbour of Kıyıkışlacık.
   Here a lovely acropolis, houses a theatre an agora a harbour temples a mausoleum and a necropolis. The famous Dolphin Boy of lassos was born here.

BODRUM Marina

   The Marina lies at the north - western side of Bodrum castle. It is a large and modern Marina and one of the most popular yachting centres in Turkey.
   Bodrum, the birthplace of Herodotus, where the Mediterranean and he Aegean meet, is one of the most beautiful holiday resorts in Turkey, with its long waterfront shaded by palm trees..
 


 

 

Marina and tourists  Shopping is a delight in Bodrum.  Leather goods of all kinds, natural  sponges, and the local blue beads are  among the bargains to be found in the  many friendly little shops along the  narrow white walled streets. Here you  will find woven rungs, carpets,  embroidery and copper. Buy too, the  lovely and original leisure clothes in  soft  cotton.


   And special to Bodrum is the lively  friendly and bohemian atmosphere.  Indeed, Bodrum is the meeting place  of  the art community of Turkey and  has  many small galleries . Dance the  night  away in one of the lively  discotheques,  or just relax over a  glass of Aegean  wine.


   In ancient times it was known as  Halicarnassus, where the Tomb of King  Mausolus was one of the SEven  Wonders of the World. Excavations are  now bringing the remains of this to light  now the site of the Mausoleum Museum.  The Castle of Bodrum which houses the  excellent halls of the lovely museum of  its type in the Mediterranean with finds  from ancient wrecks. On nearby  Göktepe is a 10.000 seater theatre built  in the 2nd. century AD.
