EFES (EPHESUS)
It was near Ephesus that the Virgin Mary spent the rest of her life, and here that the Temple of, Artemis one of the seven wonders of the world, was situated. An importantat centre of the early Christian world and port. St Paul and St John delivered sermons in this city, which at the same time was a busy port and the world’s first bank. The town is built totally of marble, and is amagnificent sight.
Aegean Virgin MARY’s HOUSE
The house where the Virgin Mary and St John spet the least years of their lives is at Ephesus. The house was discovered by a group of tourists who stopped to drink water from anearby spring in 1891.It is situated on the top of Mount Coressos, and is the from of asmall church.Thausands of people make the pilgrimage here each year, including Pope Paul, who consecrated the area.
GÖREME (CAPPADOCIA)
The intriguing natural formations of this area became the secret hideous of early Chiristians fleeing persecution. The extraordinary conterted cones of soft rock were hellowed into dwellings and churches whose lovely, vivid frescoes may still be seen today. There are also underground cities in this region. There is a total of around 360 churches to be seen.
