This project, briefly referred to as the “SuleimanProject”, attains a specific importance being Turkey’s first large-scale promotion activity in the New World. Indeed, the whole project turned out to be a tremendous success and the coverage the mass media gave to the main exhibition as well as to the other promotion activities went beyond all expectations.

The films on Suleiman the Magnificent, for instance, attracted at least fifthmillon viewers and was shown various tamies, whereas the press reports o this exhibition already filled several files, while the exhibiton was still open. Besides, a performance given by the Turkis Folk – Dance Group was transmited live on Pittsburg television, radio and TV interviews with experts, especially that with Dr.Esin Atıl, were on the air all parts of the USA. For 1988, when the exhibition will be on tour to London, West Berlin as well as to Japan and other countries, it is again scheduled to organize similar promotion events.
With the publications issued on the occasion of the exhibition on Suleiman the Magnificent, a special emphasis was laid on quality, authenticity and appeal. It was also seen to it that they represent facsimile versions and are written in English However, only 1.000 of these publications were for sale in the shops of our Ministery. It is planned to have these publications translated into other languages as well in the near future.
In pursuance of the same objectives, this exhibition and other similar activities will be organized in various countries of Europa and the Far East in the years to come. It was owing to the pioneer spirit that eminent Turkish scholars living in America displayed in starting this initiative that the first promotion activity of that size and scope took place USA.
